Dear Friends

We have just started the year of the Tiger and I believe this is fabulous. Most of us will have a dynamic time with this animal as a leader in the Chinese horoscope. We will pace through life at a more vivid speed than in the last two years.

You remember we talked about resolutions for new beginnings. Today, I want to talk to you about implementing resolutions, making a go of them. We did the thinking and now it is about doing and acting: going forward and getting somewhere, not anywhere. It’s central to have a goal, a plan and working it out. We all tend to make and recreate plans. Could it be just as important to carry them out? I don’t know whether armies still use the pigeons for flying messages to the outposts, but in the past they did. Surely, the communication had to get out there. Writing wasn’t enough. The word, the mediator, the translator, the one with the message was essential for strategic teamwork and even for the outcome of the approach.

The medium is the message, said Marshall McLuhan. He related that to the fact that the medium itself (the media) is part of the message: it influences how the message is perceived. If that is true, we are responsible of how we say and do things. The beauty of communication lies here: being responsible and ethical about our words, our deeds, our actions and transactions. This is one of my favourite topics: I care about being honest and brave with our statements. There is no need to let others try and influence us with their ideas when we want ours to be standing out to shine.

We admire people like Nelson Mandela, Ang Sang Suu Khi and The Dalai Lama. They never say too much, but they say it with conviction and inner truth. We have no doubt: they do say what they believe in and so must we! No one can tell us what to do or what to say. Go for it, my friends, I love listening to you! You have so much to say in your own few precious words.

The sharing is important, the teamwork , the transmission of our important words, not only the so called nice ones but the ones that matter, the ones that can make a difference to one of us or all of us. What we do to one of us affects us all, we must not forget it. We are part of everything in this beautiful universe and everything, absolutely everything is energy. We can flow with it, the choice is ours. Let’s enjoy the ride on its waves!

As a story, I invite you to read the following legend from Vietnam, called

DraySapand the story of an Ede girl

Legend has it that a pretty Ede maiden named H’Mi was pursued and proposed to by many wealthy men, but fell in love with a poor, but good-natured man.

One day, a giant monster with scorching eyes descended as H’Mi and her lover who were sitting on a rock and flirting with each other. The monster is said to have taken water from the river into its cavernous mouth and spit it out with force, knocking the young man unconscious and sweeping the girl away.

The grief-stricken man stood rooted in grief, and was transformed into a large tree clinging to a rock. The spot where the young lovers were attacked became a waterfall, the sound of which is the boy’s call for his lover and the mist around it, the tears shed by two pining hearts.

Dray Sap means “Smoke Waterfall” in the local Ede minority language. The crashing waterfall has indeed created a mist with a smoky effect. Dray Sap is also called the “Husband Waterfall” commonly known as “Thac Chong” in Vietnamese.

Seen from afar, the three-tier Dray Sap Waterfall is a striking picture against the backdrop of mountains and forests. The water flows especially strongly in the rainy season, when the fall is about 12 meters high and 120 meters wide. In the dry season, the landscape is just as vivid with the white water contrasting perfectly with the vast blue sky.

And  this photo of waves, let it inspire you!

In love and light and waves
